Our Story

For nearly 20 years, Powerhouse has built itself up to become the creative hub it is today. From rehearsals, to recordings, to videos, Powerhouse is now the best one-stop-shop to get everything you need under one roof. Our philosophy is to provide all of our services to the highest possible quality, no matter the artist level.

Origins

Powerhouse Studios began with humble roots – just two rehearsal rooms and a small recording area carved out of pure passion for music and creativity. What set it apart from the start was its bold artistic identity: The entrance, marked by a hand-crafted door design featuring a towering “Powerhouse” built from stacked guitar amps, quickly caught the attention of local artists and musicians.

The space became a haven for bands, solo artists, and producers looking for a place that understood the creative process from the inside out. As demand grew, so did the studio itself. Over the years, Powerhouse expanded to six fully-equipped rehearsal rooms (with more coming soon, including purpose-built spaces like a podcast room and video production suites).

From the beginning, the vision was clear: to build more than just a studio. Powerhouse would become a one-stop creative hub, where artists could access everything they needed under one roof – rehearsals, recording, music videos, showreels, merch design, and beyond. It’s a space built by artists, for artists, fuelled by the same energy that inspired its name.

Growth

As technology evolved, so did Powerhouse. What began with chunky monitors, worn-out desks, and a DIY spirit gradually transformed into a fully digital setup. The studio upgraded to powerful iMacs, digital mixing desks, high-spec microphones, and a growing library of VSTs and digital tools—keeping pace with the modern music landscape without losing touch with its raw, independent roots. Each upgrade wasn’t just about better gear; it was about pushing creative limits and giving artists access to tools that matched their ambition.

Milestones

Over the years, Powerhouse has been a creative hub for countless iconic musicians and producers, including Brian May (Queen), Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), Richie Kotzen (Poison, The Winery Dogs), Sham 69, Rick Astley and Peter Andre.

We also had the pleasure of being sponsored by Aston Microphones, giving us the opportunity to grow even further (microphones with lasers attached are now the norm!)

These experiences shape us into the present and future, giving us the knowledge and expertise to keep growing and evolving with every artist we work with.
